Moodbidri, Aug 18: The fact that a man had killed his wife at Matha within Daregudde gram panchayat limits near here came into the open on Wednesday August 18 morning.
It is learnt that Dinraj and his wife, Sunita (30), had fought on Tuesday evening on certain issues. Reportedly, Dinraj, in a fit of rage, had hit his wife's head with a wooden pestle, inflicting lethal injury. After finding that blood was oozing out of his wife's head, Dinraj called Sunita’s relative. Sunita’s relative asked him to admit her into a hospital. Dinraj took her to the hospital at Beluvai but the hospital refused to admit her. She was then taken to a hospital in Mangaluru. But because of excessive bleeding, Sunita failed to respond to treatments and passed away, it is learnt.

Sunita belonged to a poor family and lived with her mother in a rented house. Their relatives had come together and arranged for her marriage about one and half years back. As her mother lived alone, Sunita used to stay with her and Dinraj too lived with them. It is said that he was working for a battery shop in Moodbidri. The incident happened when Sunita’s mother was away visiting a neighbour.
Dinraj was arrested by the Moodbidri police on Wednesday morning.
