Mangaluru: Accused in cheque dishonouring case penalised by court

Mangaluru, Aug 13: Fourth JMFC court here has sentenced Ballalbagh resident Anil Hegde with regard to the case of dishonour of cheque.

Anil Hegde owed Rs 5,15,73,798 concerning business to Padavinangady, Mugrodi resident Danny Antony Paul. Anil Hegde had issued two cheques of Rs 3,00,00,000 and Rs 2,15,73,978 as repayment. The cheques bounced when deposited at the bank for want of funds in the account of Anil Hegde. Danny Antony Paul had lodged a private complaint in the court in this connection.

JMFC fourth court which conducted trial of the case has pronounced punishment to the accused under negotiable instruments Act.

The court ordered Anil Hegde to pay Rs 6,08,57,000 to Danny. Failure to pay the amount will result in ordinary imprisonment of two years stated the court in the verdict.

The court stated that out of Rs 6,08,57,000, Rs 6,08,50,000 will be the repayment of loan and Rs 7,000 will be the court charges.

Advocate M P Shenoy had argued in the court for the complainant.
