New York, Sep 23 (IANS) Days before he meets his counterparts from Commonwealth countries here, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna has assured the international community that India will be able to deliver at the Oct 3-14 Games in Delhi.
"I have assured all concerned that India will be able to deliver at the Commonwealth Games," he said in an interview to NDTV.
"The prolonged monsoons have created several problems. But the committee under the cabinet secretary is supervising various aspects of the Games," he said.
"I spoke to the cabinet secretary this morning and I have been assured by him that things will fall into place and athletes will be happy and the Games will certainly go on as planned and will be successful," he said.
Krishna's comments come ahead of his meeting with foreign ministers from Commonwealth countries here Monday on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly.
With a shooting incident near the historic Jama Masjid in Old Delhi Sep 19 sparking security concerns, Krishna is preparing to face some difficult questions from his counterparts from Commonwealth countries over security arrangements for the Games.
