Udupi, Sep 21: Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, Udupi in association with IMA Charitable Trust, Udupi and Udupi Senior Citizens' Association organized “World Alzheimer’s Day” at IMA Hall, Brahmagiri here on Tuesday September 21. Every year WHO organizes various programmes worldwide to create awareness about dementia with a theme and “Dementia – Its time for action” is the theme this year.
Gopal Bhat, litterateur inaugurated the programme. Dr P V Bhandary, director, Dr A V Baliga Group of Institutions, Udupi presided.
Bhandary delivered lecture on dementia, its causes, signs and its management. All the participants actively participated in the discussion session that followed the lecture.
Narayan Shetty, president, Udupi Senior Citizens' Association, Dr Ravindranath Shetty, trustee, IMA Charitable Trust, Udupi and Dr Vijaykumar Shetty, president, IMA, Udupi were the chief guests.
Free general health check-up was held for all the participants. Various creative memory games were conducted for the senior citizens to improve their memory skills and cognitive abilities to help them prevent the Alzheimer’s disease.
Around 100 senior citizens participated in the programme and were benefited.
