Udupi district bags first place in disposal of Sakala applications yet again

Udupi, Aug 3: As far as quick disposal of applications received under various government services covered by Sakala scheme is concerned, Udupi district has bagged the first place in the entire state for the month of July this year. Additional deputy commissioner of the district, Sadashiva Prabhu, urged the officials to function well in the coming days also and see that the district stays atop under Sakala scheme.

He was speaking after presiding over a meeting on the implementation of the Sakala scheme that was held in the auditorium of the office of the deputy commissioner. "Sakala is an important concept under which services are provided to the needy in a time bound manner. For 1,112 services covered by the government departments relating to 101 different departments, people can make use of the scheme by filing application in the prescribed format," he explained.

Prabhu noted that when the people provide all the necessary documents when filing for services under the Sakala scheme, it becomes easier for the concerned to dispose of such applications quickly. At the same time, he advised the officials to dispose of applications in a time bound manner. He also asked them to bring down the rate of rejection of applications. He advised them not to reject any applications without valid reasons, and to clearly spell out the reason why the same has been rejected.

In the month in question, he said, 59,237 applications were received in various departments out of which 52,511 were upheld and 1,094 were rejected. "Sakala scheme came into being in Karnataka in 2011. So far, 6.53 crore applications were received under the scheme, out of which 5.98 crore were approved and 45.02 lac were rejected. As far as this district is concerned, 14.15 lac applications were received and 13.58 lac among them were upheld and 42,194 were rejected, he stated.

While asking the officials to dispose of applications by evincing keen interest, he recalled that there is a provision to penalise people for the delay. He also said that the concerned can go on appeal if there is delay.

Officials of various departments and nodal officials of Sakala scheme were present.

It may be recalled, the district had emerged in first place in the entire state in disposal of Sakala application for the month of June also.
