Bengaluru, Aug 2: JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, said that his party will cooperate with the state government led by the BJP in case of crisis, as no party wants to face the polls before 2023. He was replying to questions raised by media persons during the media briefing after he met the chief minister on Sunday.
This has come as a shot in the arm for chief minister, Basavaraj Bommai and the BJP high command as it is said, there are chances of a section of legislators revolting against the new ministry which is yet to be formed. Many senior legislators have vociferously demanded for being accommodated in the ministry taking into account their loyalty where the government is under pressure to continue with the 17 who were made ministers in reward for crossing over from other parties and helping the BJP to form the government in the state.
Deve Gowda
Deve Gowda said that as per his thinking, no one is interested in midterm polls and that his party has to cooperate with the government in critical times. To a question whether the government may face a crisis because Yediyurappa is not at the helm, he said he does not know, duly adding that such a situation might not arise as Bommai was picked by the high command. While assuring that Bommai government will not face problems because of the JD(S), he said he is ignorant whether Bommai will side line Yediyurappa in the administration or not.
Bommai too told the media persons that during the meeting with Deve Gowda, Gowda had assured him of full support.
