Kasargod, Aug 2: In connection with the robbery in Rajdhani Jewellery Store at Hosangady, Manjehwar in the district, the investigation team has succeeded in arresting the main accused, The arrested accused happens to be Satyesh K P alias Kiran (35), a resident of Kodangallur, Thrissur.
The officials probing the robbery case said that the accused faces several cases filed against him in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
The robbery had happened in the early hours of July 26. A seven-member gang had bashed up the watchman of the jewellery store, Abdullah, and taken away about 15 kilograms of jewellery valuables and Rs 4.5 lac in cash from the store. An Innova car used for the robbery was later found to have been abandoned at a spot within the limits of Ullal police station. Seven kilograms of silver ornaments and two lac rupees in cash were found in the car. The robbers had escaped with the remaining ornaments and cash by using another car.
A special investigation team led by Kasargod deputy superintendent of police, Balakrishnan Nair, is investigating the case. The team has succeeded in arresting the main accused. The police claimed that they have concrete information about the other accused in the case.
