Mangaluru, Aug 1: MLC and former general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) B K Hariprasad on Sunday August 1 lashed out at the ruling BJP and said that the government was attempting to 'change' the Constitution and that those who go against the Constitution were 'traitors'.

Hariprasad was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of Vishwas Kumar Das, president of Dakshina Kannada Congress unit of backward classes on Sunday at the district Congress office at Mallikatta in the city.

"After the Constitution of India was formed, equal rights were given to upper caste, backward classes and lower class people in our society. Those who go against such a Constitution are the real traitors," Hariprasad said.

He further said, "Ever since the BJP attained power in the country, the nation has been going down a different path. A plot is being hatched to change the Constitution. People of lower classes and backward classes are being trampled. We do not want the ideology of Nathuram Godse. What we need is the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi.

"The Constitution is very important for every Indian. It has the power to wipe off the tears and provide power and justice to the lowest category of people living in society. It is condemnable that such a sacred Constitution is being changed," he added.

"Backward classes are being instigated in the name of caste and religion. Only if this is taken seriously and the Constitution is protected will this country have a bright future. Backward classes who are in large numbers should unite for their justice and protection," Hariprasad said.

Addressing the gathering, M D Laxminarayana, state president of Congress backward classes unit said, "BJP has attained power in center and state by focusing on Hindutva. But now all are regretting. The role of organization of backward classes will play a vital role in bringing Congress back to power in the state in the next assembly elections."

The programme was presided over by DCP president Harish Kumar. MLA U T Khader, former minister Ramanath Rai, Abhaychandra Jain, former MLAs J R Lobo, Mohiuddin Bava, Shakuntala Shetty, Ivan D’Souza and P V Mohan were present.

BJP can never do justice to the oppressed classes in the society. Be it poor, backward communities, castes, Dalits or for that matter minorities. All these communities were united under Congress and progressed economically, financially and socially. We have seen how people of lower castes were being treated by Sanghis in the past before emergency. Indira Gandhi gave social power to the people followed by Rajiv Gandhi and Manmohan Singh under whose regime India progressed in technology as well as economically. BJP hatched the conspiracy of divide and rule and targeted minorities to win the hearts of secular hindus, all with a plan to work for the rich by exploiting the poor through hindutva politics. Any sane person can see this unless he is a stupid blind follower. People should now wake up and bring back congress to have socially peaceful and economically prosperous country we have been living in the past.

People, This is same Haryprasad when Gundu Rao was CM in 1983....along with KJ George.....blockaded Indian Express and Deccan Herald news papers in Bangalore .....and did not allow news papers to come out of the press...because they published...somebody threw footwear at their leader Gundu during a public function.... Haryprasad thinks people's memory is short....news paper people should ask him...where was Constitution when he was doing this blatantly un-constitutional things????.... This is the reason....people of Bangalore are not allowing him to be elected for any directly elected post....his brother another Dongi ...BK Shivaram was defeated last time in assembly elections at Bangalore by 50 thousand votes... He cannot say these things in Bangalore...because people know him well there....So he is saying these things in Mangalore.... ...Tak...Takk...

Yes, Gundu was CM from January 12th 1980 to January 6th 1983. Call Indian Express and Deccan Herald Bangalore and ask them, when Youth Congress thugs Hariprasad and KJ George blockaded and attacked their news paper offices in 80s and why? Following are their phone numbers: Indian Express: 080-22866893, 22861583, 22863994 Deccan Herald: 080-25880160 to 64 I am sure none of them have forgotten 'Constitutional Activities' these thugs performed when they were in power....When you get the answer from them...don't forget to share it with us... ...Tak...Takk...

Why should I call newspaper for thier concocted second hand stories while I can get true and real facts from people who are accused like Hariprasad and K.J. George. I think you too should also call them and verify your facts instead of living in fools paradise to be the leader of blinds.

Last time someone went against constitution was in 1975 by declaring Emergency. We have to learn saving constitution from these people who have divided people, what a time we are living in. No wonder they are in a place that they truly deserve.

During the time of Indian Emergency declared in 1975 June, I was a student and we too have opposed it. But those 19 months are the best period of my life India. There were very less crimes, there was accountability, police were doing their jobs with fear for law. Today, there is only saffocating atmosphere , for those who oppose the government policies.
