Mangalore, Sep 14: The general body meeting of Mulgeni Okkalu Rakshana Vedike was held at Don Bosco Hall, here on Sunday September 12.
The vedike’s president Maxim D’Silva presided over the meet and highlighted the need to register their association with state authorities, in order to function as legal entity, at the backdrop of some vested interests trying to cause hindrance to pass the proposed legislation that would benefit a large number of Mulgeni rights holders in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
A P Gowri Shanker, legal advisor of Vedike stressed the need to get legal status for vedike, which would give wider scope to face the setback to the proposed legislation.
Joseph Saldanha, joint secretary of vedike explained the rules and norms of the association. It was agreed by all members of vedike including Dr K S Bhat.
Vishwanath Bolar, treasurer of vedike presented the annual accounts and also read the names of donors for their cause.
Maxim D’Silva welcomed the gathering. Vishwanath Bolar proposed the vote of thanks.
