KONKAN TARAM - JERIMERI.

Mumbai, Sep 14: Konkan Taram, a social, cultural and liturgical association of St Jude’s Church, Jerimeri celebrated Monti Fest on the occasion of their 20th annual day, on Sunday the 12th September 2010, at 7.00 a.m..
 
Large number of children carried flowers and offered traditional hymns ‘Sokkod Sangatha Melliam’ and ‘Moriek Hogollsiam’. Corns (Novem) blessed by Fr. Theo Fernandes ( Parish Priest of St. Jude Church ) and a High Mass in honour of B.V.Mother Mary celebrated by Fr. Nelson Saldanha ( Asst. Priest of Infant Jesus church – Jogeshwari ) con-celebrated by Fr. Theodore & Fr. Faustin Furtado ( Karwar diocese ).

Konkan Taram Konkani Choir Group sang melodious hymns composed by John Mascarenhas with beautiful music accompanied by Benjamin Miranda and troupe.

All readings and prayers in konkani were read by small children, which reminded the traditional Mangalorean-style of Monti Fest celebration.

Blessed corns, Snacks, sweets and sugarcane were distributed to all parishioners and guests.  Moreover all children were distributed note books.

A felicitation programme was held and Fr. Nelson Saldanha, Fr. Faustin Furtado, Fr. Theo Fernandes, Sr. Anita, George Furtado ( President ), Flora D’Souza (Secretary), Walter D’Souza (Committee Member) were present on the dias and members of Konkan Taram felicitated them with flower bouquets.
During felicitation programme, SSC toppers were honoured with gift vouchers sponsored by Konkan Taram President - George Furtado and certificates of appreciation were given to them as an encouragement for other children too.

John Mascarenhas ( treasurer ) compered the programme and thanked the donors and parishioners for their continued support, co-operation and encouragement.
