Mangalore, Sep 14: The policemen, who followed the leads relating to a complaint registered with Panambur station on September 10 about the theft of various things made of iron worth over three lac rupees from Ajit Enterprises in Bykmapady here, have succeeded in nabbing the accused.
A Tata Sumo vehicle reportedly used by him to transport stolen items, and large quantity of items stolen by the accused, including iron rings and other equipments, have been confiscated. The arrested person has been identified as Sujit (24), residing in a rented house in Bykampady Angaragundi, originally from Kerala. His accomplices, Bykampady Mohammed Ali, Mohammed Salim, Irshad and Hyder, however, succeeded in giving the policemen a slip. The value of the vehicle and items now confiscated has been put at around four lac rupees.
Sujit, who has studied till second year BBM degree course, works as a driver for a firm that executes contract work for Mangalore Special Economic Zone, the policemen said. In the evening, he used to steal things, in association with his assistants, they added. The policemen led by Panambur sub-inspector of police, Keertikumar, made this arrest.
