Mangaluru, Jul 22: Veteran Congressman and Rajya Sabha member, Oscar Fernandes (80), who was admitted into a private hospital here after he suffered head injury due to fall when practising Yoga at his home, continues to be in coma. His health condition is precarious.
A team of experienced doctors has been keeping close watch on his health condition. The doctors will take a decision about the desirability of performing surgery on him after 36 hours, it is learnt.
Oscar's wife, son and daughter along with relatives have stayed back in the hospital to take care of the 80-year-old ailing leader who is in the intensive care unit. National level leaders of the Congress including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi called Oscar's family over phone to keep updated about his health condition and wish him well. On Wednesday, leaders like M B Patil and H K Patil visited the hospital.
Former union minister B Janardhana Poojary, who visited the hospital on Wednesday along with wife, duly ignoring his own ill health, enquired about the health condition of Oscar. He could not speak to the media and shed tears uncontrollably on this occasion.
