Karnataka to create first of its kind Scene of Crime Officer posts: Bommai

Bengaluru, Jul 12: In a unique first-of-its-kind initiative, Karnataka will create Scene of Crime officer posts to collect evidence of crime incidents on a scientific basis to ensure faster investigation of crimes, home and law minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Monday.

Chief minister B S Yediyurappa will sign the official government order for creating the Crime of Scene Officer posts and present the first copy to the state director general of police Praveen Sood on Tuesday.

The designated Scene of Crime Officers will be visiting the crime spots in all serious cases and ensure that the evidence is collected on a scientific basis.

Bommai said the chief minister will also be releasing a booklet providing all details about the Arogya Bhagya scheme for policemen.

The chief minister will also launch the Vidyanidhi 2 scheme to provide quality education to the children of policemen, Bommai said.
