Monsoon intensifies, heavy rains continue to lash Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 11: Monsoon has intensified in the coastal districts of the state. Heavy downpour was experienced in both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Saturday July 10. The rains continued to batter both districts on Sunday July 11 morning also.

The compound hall of a house got collapsed at Kallagudde of Bantwal taluk. The house was partially damaged. Naveen and a toddler who were sleeping inside the house sustained minor injuries. A house got damaged due to landslide on nearby hill. A house at Kuvettu village of Beltangady taluk got damaged as a tree fell on it.

Mangaluru city area received good rains right from the morning of Saturday. The rain got intensified in the evening and night and continues to pour on the morning of Sunday also. Puttur, Uppinangady, Sullia, Panja, Kadaba, Subramanya, Beltangady, Guruvayanakere, Dharmasthala, Madyantharu, Punjalakatte, Vittal, Bantwal, Kanyana, Moodbidri, Ullal, Surathkal, Mudipu and Mulky areas of Dakshina Kannada district received good rains.

In some parts electricity poles got uprooted due to heavy winds. Farms also got damaged for the same reason. Sea waves were violent in areas of Panamboor, Someshwar and Ullal of Mangaluru. Tourists are warned not to venture into sea.

Two houses each are completely and partially damaged at Bantwal, Beltangady, Mangaluru and Kadaba.

Karkala, Hebri, Shankaranarayana, Kundapur and Kaup areas of Udupi district received heavy rains.
