Mangaluru: South India's first Train with Vistadome coaches flagged off

Mangaluru, Jul 11: The maiden run of two Vistadome coaches attached to Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur Weekly Express Special was flagged off on Sunday July 11.

The train with Vistadome coaches from the city to capital Bengaluru, will give the passengers an opportunity to view the picturesque sceneries of nature during day time.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, mayor Premananda Shetty and officials of Railway department were present.

The train with Vistadome coaches is being introduced for the first time in south India by the Indian Railways. The train number is 06540/06539 and is named as Mangaluru Jn-Yeshawanthpur express train.

The Vistadome coaches, will enable the passengers to have a close view of the beautiful nature of Western Ghats. During Monsoon the Ghats will be feast to the eyes with lush green trees and sceneries.

The train will have two vistadome coaches with capacity of 44 seats each. The wide and huge transparent glass windows will give a close and clear view of outside nature. These bogies are manufactured in Integral Coach Factory (ICF) of Chennai. The roof is also made of glass. The coaches have CCTV cameras, fire safety equipment, LED, oven and refrigerator, mini pantry, multi-tiered steel luggage cupboard, mobile charging sockets on every seat. In addition, the coaches have automatic sliding doors and ecological washrooms.

    Could you pls ensure this rain passes by one of heritage site.. It's very important to boost up our tourism industry.. Just take a small diversion from Mangalore - Take Left - you'll get an Amazing Flyover. Traveller's can get a beautiful view of 17th century stones , Kateel century single carved rocks, A natural swimming pool and so on. A site must visit.

    Why to be jealous. Every bogies have windows and can enjoy as per the price they pay. Have money pay more and enjoy more. Nature is a Gift of GOD and can be enjoyed anytime everywhere for Free.

    Dylan, Mangalore Fare is around 1400 I heard. The train coming today from Blore is also fitted with 2 Vistadome coaches. 70% of the seats were already booked 3 days back itself.

    Just heard Rs.1,500/= in two Vistadome coaches only. Normal fare in remaining coaches.

    these people are the same one's who spend a lot on foreign trips and later when our own country tries to promote these things they want everything to be damn cheap, lol, this is a very good initiative by railways which helps in promoting tourism,
