Mangalore Sep 8: The new auditorium of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat and a mini meeting hall was inaugurated on the premises of panchayat here on Tuesday September 7.
Mangalore south MLA N Yogish Bhat declared open the auditorium unveiling plaque.
Inaugurating the programme, district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar said that the building for the panchayat too is one of the basic amenities, providing of which will create an environment favourable for working and give their best.
He also urged the opposition to join hands with the ruling party to take up constructive works, thus helping the district achieve progress.
Congress district president B Ramanath Rai said that erstwhile ruling party Congress too has had its share of contributions to the district.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the mini hall.
The 780 sqft mini hall has a seating capacity of 45 seats, while the panchayat auditorium can accommodate 166 excluding 30 for mediapersons. The building comprises 6,456 sqft area.
ZP chief executive officer P Shivashankar, Mangalore City Corporation mayor Rajini Dugganna, deputy mayor B Rajendra, Puttur MLA Mallika Prasad, MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary, Education and Health Standing Committee, DKZP president Rajashree Hegde and taluk panchayat president Ramachandra Kumpala among others were present.
