Haveri, Jul 5: Reacting to the invitation given by KPCC president D K Shivakumar to the rebel MLAs of Congress who have joined BJP, state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “Congress is a sinking ship. All efforts are being made to save it. Already there is a gape in the deck and water is seeping in. They are wailing so that someone can save them.”
Speaking in Hirekerur town, he further said, “Today Congress political party is a sinking ship. There is no one who wants to board it. So they are begging people of all parties to come and save them.”
Responding to the query on minister C P Yogeshwar’s anti-party statement, Nalin said, “I do not know with what sentiment is Yogeshwar talking. I will seek explanation from him. Our government, ministers and MLAs should not speak with media on unnecessary issues. What Yogeshwar has spoken will be known after I have a word with him."
“Right now there is no discussion in BJP with regards to change of leadership or CM. This matter should not be taken to the streets. Legislative meetings are called for this purpose. There is no need to give rise to any sort of confusion on the matter. People have blessed the developmental works of PM Modi. Due to their (Congress) arrogance, they did not even get the eligibility of being the Opposition in Lok Sabha. First let them understand this and then speak.”
Reacting to the statement by MLA Yatnal who commented that deals amounting to crores of rupees are carried out behind CM Yediyurappa's residence, Nalin said that he does not acknowledge baseless comments by Yatnal.
With respect to Mekedatu project, Nalin said that CM Yediyurappa has already done what is supposed to be done in the matter. Karnataka government has clear stance in the matter.
