Kasargod: Boat capsize tragedy – Mortal remains of three missing persons found

Kasargod, Jul 5: The mortal remains of three people who went missing on the morning of Sunday, July 4, in the boat capsize tragedy, are found on the beach of Bekal Kotikulam on the morning of Monday July 5.

The deceased are identified as Sandeep (34), Rathish (35), and Kartik (22), all residents of Kasaba beach. On the morning of Sunday when the fibre boat in which seven people were aboard capsized, four were rescued by the fishermen while three went missing. The fibre boat Anjaneya had gone for fishing from Kasaba beach. It got entangled in the high waves in sea at Kiyoor.

B Manikuttan (36), resident of Adkathabail beach, Ravi (22), resident of Kotikulam Kadappura, Shashi (35), resident of Nellikunje and Shibin (23), resident of Kasaba were rescued by fishermen in other boat.

Local fishermen, coastal police and fire service personnel had continued search till late night of Sunday for the missing people. The mortal remains of three which washed ashore was noticed by fishermen, who informed the matter to the police.

The mortal remains are sent to Kasargod general hospital for post-mortem.
