Mangalore Sep 7: Rakesh B K of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Chaitra U of Canara Girls High School, Dongerkery, two students from the city have been selected as National Talent Scholars 2009-10 by NCERT.
The duo were trained in Manipal Career Excellence Kuntikan. A total number of 708 students had answered the first stage of examination on November 9, 2009 from Mangalore centre.
National council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) awards 1,000 scholarship to the talented students of std VIII each year through the National Talent Search Scheme and then nurture the talent by way of providing financial assistance in the form of scholarship.
The awardees will receive a scholarship of Rs 6,000 every year starting from standard IX. The awardees continue to receive scholarships up to their PhD level for pursuing their education.
