Bengaluru, Jul 4: "Every individual must get vaccinated in order to defeat Covid. The state government is aiming to vaccinate all within the next two months. We will establish ward level vaccination centrers at Padmanabhanagar shortly. We have to help the needy during these difficult times as much as we can," said revenue minister R Ashok.
Ashok was speaking at a programme held at Padmanabhanagar in the city on Saturday, July 3.
He further said, “This is the very reason why I did not celebrate my birthday. Instead of garlands and cake, the need of the hour is to provide food kits to the financially poor people in the society.
"We are distributing food kits to six to seven thousand houses everyday for the past one and a half month. We also opened a Covid control room. Covid patients of my constituency have got free vaccination and oxygen concentrators. Now the experts are warning of a possible third wave of Covid. That is why we are going to open a hospital for children in Padmanabhanagar. Very good treatment will be provided in this hospital. In addition, I also request everyone to take vaccination against Covid.
“Many people who lost their family members due to Covid did not claim their mortal remains. Some got scared. So we decided to carry out their final rites. I have completed the religious programme which took more than three hours. Many, including my wife, were scared. But I firmly believed that it is my duty. I will have to partake in one more religious programme. For that sake I will visit Vishnu Pada of Kerala or Varanasi soon.”
Minister Ashok also lauded the efforts of Asha workers and doctors during the Covid pandemic. He also said that the state government is offering Rs one lac compensation for BPL card holder family members of those who died of Covid.
