Bantwal, Sep 7: The professional photographers of Dakshina Kannada (DK) district had a wonderful time participating in outdoor activities on Sunday September 5.
The taluk unit of the South Kanara Photographers’ Association (SKPA) organized district-level traditional games contests in a muddy paddy field at Brahmarakootlu on Sunday. Most of the photographers from across the district participated in the event and enjoyed the outdoor activities.
Various games such as volleyball, tug-of-war, hitting the pot blindfolded, and treasure hunt in the muddy paddy field, were held on the occasion. Photographers from Puttur, Bantwal, Karkala, Udupi, and Beltangady taluks participated in the competitions enthusiastically.
Bantwal Land Development Bank director Chandrashekar Shetty Thumbe inaugurated the competitions.
SKPA (Mangalore–Udupi) president Shivaram Kadaba presided over the programme.
Thumbe gram panchayat vice-president Divakar Pambadabettu, member Mohammed Valavoor, Sri Rama Bhajana Mandir president Shashidar Brahmarakootlu, SKPA secretary Jagdish Jain, and Bantwal unit president Satish Kumar were present at the inaugural programme.
Udupi unit bagged the first place and Karkala came in second in the volleyball tournament. Mangalore unit bagged the first place in tug-of-war, while Udupi bagged the second place. Narendra of Mangalore bagged the cash award in the treasure hunt. Uday of Udupi, Prashant of Mangalore, and Harish of Udupi bagged first, second, and third place respectively, in breaking the pot.
Bantwal council member Ramakrishna Alva, Phototech Colour Lab proprietor Chandrashekar, and Karkala office-bearer Shekar distributed prizes during the ceremony held on Sunday evening.
Bantwal unit honorary president T Harish Rao, president Satish Kumar, secretary Sukumar, treasurer Kishore, games conveners Harish Mani and Yogish Brahmarakootlu and others assisted for the success of competitions.
