Udupi, Jul 3: Of late, incidents of frictions between people of different religions have been happening often. However, humanitarian quality transcends all other obstacles and stays high. This is evidenced by the fact that Muslim youth rescued a person who was stuck in a helpless situation in Saudi Arabia and helped him to reach his home here.
Indian Social Forum (ISF) has succeeded in bringing a 68-year-old person from Hoode-Thonse back home. He had left homeland 21 years ago and settled down in Saudi Arabia. Several Muslim organizations joined hands in making this happen.
After an effort lasting a month, the man was brought home through 'Vande Bharat' flight on June 26.
Prabhakar from Thonse was doing tailoring work in Saudi for the last 40 years. He had last visited his hometown in the year 2000. He reportedly was suffering from stomach-related problems. His relatives had shared the information about the critical situation he is in on WhatsApp by an audio clip, which went viral. Local SDPI took interest to help the man. The party leaders contacted ISF Dammam unit and sought help. The forum's Dammam unit formed a team led by Muhammed Ali Muloor of the welfare department. Ibrahim Krishnkapur and Imran Katipalla joined together and found Prabhakar in a helpless situation at Seiko Dammam.
Prabhakar's identity card had not been renewed for the last four years. ISF admitted him into a private hospital in Al Khobar. As his identity card and health insurance period had expired, the team decided to shift him to King Fahad University Hospital. After treatment and testing lasting two weeks, the doctors concluded that he suffers from serious ailment. The Indian embassy was contacted with details, and the office issued confirmation letter and emergency certificate to help him return home. The welfare team which maintained continuous contact with the labour department of Saudi, arranged for the final exit.
The ISF Committee has requested SDPI to arrange for treatment of Prabhakar here. On his arrival, Prabhakar was taken to KIO Hospital by ambulance.
President of MASA organization Satish Bajal, sponsor Joy Fernandes, and the doctor of Dammam Health Clinic, Dr Muhammed Wasim Bhatkal extended help in getting immediate response from the embassy and extended monetary help by arranging ticket and other things, said SDPI Udupi unit members. People are praising the concerned for making this successful effort and bringing back an ailing citizen. Prabhakar is currently under treatment at Father Muller Hospital Mangaluru.
