Udupi, Jul 2: Deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha informed on Friday Jul 2 that weekend curfew will be in place during the upcoming weekend.
He said, “Public can buy essentials only from shops near to their residences till 2 pm and come out of their homes only in cases of medical emergency.
“Both government and private buses will not be in service,” he clarified.
In view of reports in the media that the third wave of coronavirus will trouble children, he said that necessary precautions should be undertaken to protect children from the pandemic. Earlier in the day, the DC presided over the district medical expert committee meeting.
“Preparations should be conducted from today itself to implement the guidelines prepared by Indian Academy of Paediatrics to protect children from the third wave of coronavirus. Forty ICU beds should be kept ready at Kasturba Medical College Manipal and altogether sixty beds should be ready at the district hospital and all the taluk hospitals,” he said.
“All the private hospital paediatricians should cooperate with government hospital doctors in the district about providing treatment to children. Government hospital doctors, private hospital doctors and the para medical staff should be trained at KMC Manipal about the procedures laid down by Indian Academy of Paediatrics. They should also be trained in use of medical equipment,” he said.
“Parents should not unnecessarily take their children to crowded places. They should be provided nutritious food prepared at home and increase their natural immunity,” opined the paediatricians present in the meeting.
Additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, district health officer Dr Nagabhooshan Udupa, Covid nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat, specialist doctors from various hospitals in the district and health department medical officers were present.
