Mangaluru: Zilla panchayat website shows DK district as having five taluks

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jul 2: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district has seven taluks. But in the official website of its zilla panchayat (ZP), the number of taluks continues to be mentioned as five.

The website was last updated on April 30. It has the names of Beltangady, Bantwal, Mangaluru, Puttur and Sullia taluk panchayats. There is no mention of Kadaba and Moodbidri taluk panchayats, which were formed two years back. These taluk panchayats have building, elected representatives, list of villages falling in them etc.

The website also does not have the maps of Moodbidri and Kadaba taluks while the map containing the other five taluks shows all the details. In the website of the district deputy commissioner’s office, maps of Kadaba and Moodbidri taluks have been separately shown with different colours. But at the place where taluk-wise maps are given, names of these two taluks are missing. Even though there is map of the taluks, they have not been uploaded here.

At the same time, the information about all the taluks have been updated in the 'Panchamitra' website of the rural development and panchayat raj department where clicking on the names of the seven taluks unfolds information about the villages in individual taluks.

Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian, said that all the details about the villages of Moodbidri and Kadaba taluks have been prepared. He said that details about Mulky and Ullal taluks are also ready. He promised to make an enquiry with the ZP officials as to why the details are not uploaded as he felt that the websites which provide information to the general public should always be updated.
