Mangaluru, Jun 29: As a new week started after the weekend curfew, heavy traffic congestion is seen in most parts of the city.

As public is allowed to buy essential from 7 am to 2 pm from Monday to Friday, most of the people are seen running around in own vehicles to buy groceries.

Last week, traffic congestion continued after 2 pm also. Works related to Smart City and two days of weekend curfew are also reasons for the traffic congestion in the city.

Smart City work is in progress near PVS Circle, Lighthouse Hill Road, City Centre and in front of Sharada Vidyalaya. Nanthoor circle also witnesses heavy movement of vehicles on a daily basis now.

People have to understand that the Government is not the one who control this pandemic. It is our responsibility to take care of us and also others in the vicinity.

@ Anand R, Mangalore you first mount blame those selfish authorities who have taken up smart City project work yet unfinished even during lockdown period. Mangaloreans have better sense of traffic compared to other regions in Karnataka. Watch latest video regrading same issue on fb by social activist sowraj mangalore.

Traffic jam because of the roads dug in the city and there are no boards displayed showing the diversion. Many get confused which causes traffic jam.....why to undertake construction work of roads during this season. Instead of digging everywhere, part by part could have repaired. Pay taxes and get suffered .

Rightly said..traffic jam is due to the unfinished road works in several areas within the city limits. However the funny part is that..the ones who are responsible for making this a so called smart city are not smart enough to realise or understand that …digging roads all around the city at one given time to make this into a smart city is not being smart enough themselves , when , there is no manpower , necessary financial aids or even the will and intent to finish the job in time. What was really needed by the reaponsible to make this a smart city is, a systematic plan to tackle the upgradation work in area wise, complete that work and then move on to the next. Now thats the kind of smart people that is required to make a city smart.

Because smart city projects works is going on and relaxation upto 2pm. naturally Traffic jam common. But administrations told citizen to come out only for nassacity items only. Ok my opinion is traffic department must make one way system in all places were work in in progress. Naturally vehicles owners will be very careful while coming out for shopping. So till lockdown period make ONE WAY TRAFFIC in important area in Mangalore city.

When going to work, what is generally seen is Traffic department people are seated sipping theor tea. Numerous places this was observed , such as at valencia/kankanady; Falnir/milagres ; Nanthoor/ Kpt junctions. When a traffic jam could have been cleared in a jiffy, savouring on tea / coffee is chosen. Many a times the traffic clog is cleared by some civilian
