Youth Convicted for Raping Minor

Panaji, Sep 4: A local court on Friday September 3 convicted 32-year-old local man for raping 13-year-old girl in Rivona village, 50 kms away from here.

Goa children’s court president P V Sawaikar convicted Vishal Devidas for raping the minor girl while quantum of sentence will be decided on September 13, 2010. The incident was reported on December 1, 2006 when the accused forcibly entered into the house of victim and raped her by dragging her into the bedroom.

Quepem police had registered the case and arrested the accused five days later when he was identified by the victim and her brother. Victim’s mother had complained that the accused had criminally trespassed into the house of victim and caught her neck while she was cooking at 10.30 am.

The complaint mentioned that accused forcibly took the victim and raped her. The accused was arrested on January 05, 2007 and case was charge-sheeted on January 01, 2008. The court had given bail to the accused on February 06, 2007.

The medical examination conducted on the girl had confirmed that there was evidence of recent penetration. The court had examined six witnesses in this case including her mother.
