Beltangady, Jun 28: A woman member of Andinje gram panchayat (GP) of the taluk has shown exemplary people representative trait by repairing a water pipeline herself with the help of a pickaxe and shovel.

Saroja, a member of gram panchayat’s Savya ward, is the woman who has led from the front. She was elected as a BJP-supported candidate in the last gram panchayat elections.

Saroja has very good rapport with the villagers and responds to their woes immediately.

There was an issue in the drinking water pipeline of the village on June 26. When the villagers brought this to the notice of Saroja, she first inquired whether she can get anyone who can repair the pipe. Later, she thought that it was her responsibility and got down personally with tools to get the pipeline repaired.

Saroja was wearing a rain coat as it was raining heavily and dug the mud that was lying over the pipeline and set it right. Her concern towards the public living in her ward is being appreciated widely by people.
