Bengaluru, Jun 26: Home and Law Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday vowed to continue Karnataka’s war against drugs and illegal drug trafficking till the menace is eliminated.

Addressing a function organized by the Bengaluru City Police to observe the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking in Bengaluru on Saturday, he said the State Government was committed to root out the menace.

Systematic racket for supplying drugs through the Dark Web had been detected by the police and the investigations have revealed several startling facts, including names of international players, who will be tracked and booked, he said.

Bommai warmly appreciated the actions taken by the State police, which alerted even the Central investigating agencies and said the State proud of the achievements of the police.

Over 3,000 kgs of drugs worth over Rs 50 crore had been seized by the police during the year 2020-21, which are being destroyed as per the court orders, he said pointing out that the large quantities of drugs would have harmed the health of youth and citizens and their families.

The State Government is determined to stringently implement the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropics (NDPS) Act, he said mentioning that steps are being taken to frame strict rules to enforce the Act. The National Law School of India has been asked to suggest suitable changes, he added.
