Mangaluru, Jun 24: A youth accidentally fell into the Arabian Sea at Rudrapade, Someshwar here on Wednesday June 23. He has been identified as Pavan Krishna Kotekar (29), son of Ganesh Prasanna, living near Someshwar municipal office.
Pavan, after completing his engineering degree at Mysuru, had come back to his native place. He had also completed his MBA in Mangaluru and was working in a private company. On account of Covid lockdown, he was working from home. He had made it a habit to visit Someshwar temple regularly every day. As usual, he visited the temple at 4.30 pm on Wednesday. He then scaled the Rudrapade on the seashore and then accidentally fell into the sea below.
Even though the lifeguards tried to save Pavan, they failed in their objective as the sea near the Rudrapade is very deep and the waves were high. On noticing that the body of the youth was floating in the sea a little while later, home guard volunteers Prasad Suvarna, fisherman Sagar, Mohan and Sujith of the Coastal Security Force, as well as the staff of Someshwar temple struggled with the waves and succeeded in retrieving the body and bringing it to the seashore.
Pavan was reportedly a talented youth and a good singer and guitarist. He is survived by parents and brother.
