Udupi, Jun 21: KSRTC buses began services to all the districts of Karnataka except Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Mysuru. The government buses, as per the unlock order, have been permitted to move round the clock including the night curfew period depending on the passenger traffic.
There will not be bus services to Mysuru and buses will pass through the outskirts if they need to cross this district. No one will be allowed to either alight or get into the buses in Mysuru district.
In Dakshina Kannada, no buses are permitted to move about. Therefore buses will be stopped at the border of the district.
An official revealed that staff who have already got vaccinated with both the doses will be deployed on duty on priority in these buses.
In Udupi district, buses pressed into service based on requirement. Buses left for various destinations of the state like Hubballi, Belagavi, Agumbe, Shivamogga, Bagalkot and Bengaluru.
Only 50% of the capacity of seats in the bus are permitted to be occupied. Buses have started operating to Kundapur and Karkala also. As there is no permission for bus transport in Dakshina Kannada district, buses to Bengaluru are in a fix.
KSRTC personnel reported to work. But there are only a handful of passengers. Private buses have not yet started operating in the district. It is doubtful that the private buses will start operations in near future as they need at least 25 people in one route to manage the cost of operation.
