Kasargod, Aug 31: The policemen have claimed that they have arrested an important person in connection with the severing of the palm of Joseph, a lecturer serving in Newman College in Todupzha on July 4 this year. The arrested person has been identified as KK Ali, for the arrest of whom, the police department had issued a look out notice. Ali had gone missing immediately after the incident, the policemen say.
Ali, a resident of Kodamangala Cheruvattur, reportedly abetted the above crime. The policemen said that he was arrested on the basis of information given by Jamal, who was arrested two days back. The policemen claim that the van used for the above act, had been bought by Ali from Trissur.
Even though a total of 23 persons have been arrested in connection with the incident so far, only two out of seven prime accused have been apprehended so far. Joseph’s palm had been chopped off as punishment for printing blasphemous remarks relating to the Prophet purported to have been found in the B Com question paper set by Joseph in the examination held during March this year.
