Koppal, Jun 18: Normally people are afraid of coronavirus disease. Many doctors who were assigned with Covid duties have fallen victims to this dreaded disease. Among the doctors who take strains to work effectively, Dr Mahesh, district tuberculosis officer, takes the cake.

Dr Mahesh has emerged as a model for others by working non-stop for over a month in the Covid hospital. He stayed inside the hospital, overlooking his responsibilities towards his family, house, wife and children. He is a corona warrior in the real sense.

Dr Mahesh was made in charge of the Covid hospital started at Gavi Math in Koppal. From May 11, the day on which the hospital became functional, Dr Mahesh stayed put in that hospital till June 15, totally dedicating himself to the service of the Covid patients.

40 staff worked with him too. But the staff worked on shifts while Dr Mahesh worked entirely in the Covid ward. He stayed there, provided guidance to employees and supervised the welfare of the patients. He consumed the food supplied by Gavi Math to the hospital. Wherever he needed rest, he stayed in Yatri Nivas next door.

Dr Mahesh worked for 36 days non stop. He contacted his two children on phone. He had convinced his wife and children that he would not be able to return home till the Covid duty is completed. He is emotionally attached to the hospital, he said. Gavi Math Covid hospital turned into a model hospital under his guidance with a recovery rate of 94 per cent. The rate of death was also very low.

Dr Mahesh says his aim of serving the people with total dedication was met, and he used the opportunity given by Sri Gavisidddeshwara Swamiji to serve the people. The Swamiji also is all praise for his selfless services.
