Mangalore, Aug 30: The post graduate department of Biotechnology, St Aloysius College will organize a brain awareness lecture workshop and poster exhibition under the auspices of the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), France at Eric Mathias Hall on Wednesday September 1.
The theme of the workshop is ‘Neurological disorders- Causes and underlying mechanisms: current status and research trends’.
It will be inaugurated by Dr Lekha Pandit, professor and director, Centre for Advanced Neurological Research, K S Hegde Medical College, Deralakatte, who will also deliver the inaugural lecture.
The aim of the workshop is to create awareness on the brain, its structure and function in humans with relation to disease/disorder conditions by creating a forum where reputed neuroscientists/neurologists working on various aspects of brain dysfunction can interact with students and the general public.
Dr Jaya Shanker Tedla, associate professor, KMC,Mangalore, Dr Keshava Pai, associate professor, KMC and Dr Sarada Subramanian associate professor, NIMHANS, Bangalore will be the other resource persons.
The target audience is the student community and junior faculty in life sciences, medicine, social work and psychology of colleges in and around the city. Lectures will be given as power point presentations to make the subject understandable and vivid.
