Mangaluru, Jun 17: Heavy rainfall, which is being experienced since the last few days, continued to batter coastal Karnataka on Wednesday June 16.
Mokshit Karkera (25), who was checking the switchboard at Udyavara Kanakod when the force of wind and rain was intense, was electrocuted after suffering shocks. This incident happened on Wednesday June 16 evening. Karkera was a resident of Malpe Kodavoor and was an electrician by profession. He also used to help his mother with her fish vending profession whenever he had time. Moskshit, elder of the two sons of Manjoj Karkera, was supporting the family.

Due to heavy wind and rain, over eight houses in Pangala, Kalenja in Beltangady taluk were damaged. Many coconut and areca nut trees fell and agricultural land was damaged near Gardady. Private power line near Kataje was damaged as eight electric poles got uprooted.
After a huge banyan tree fell to the road near Sampoli in Kadeshwalya village in Bantwal taluk, five electric poles were damaged. The retaining wall of a house in Manchi collapsed while the retaining wall of the main canal near Kodical crashed to the ground.
