Udupi, Aug 30: “When we all human beings are equal, the religion we follow should be one. The confusion has arisen as we have not understood the term religion in-depth”, said Akbar Ali, president of Udupi district Shamiyana Sanyojakara Okkoota.
He was speaking at the Iftar party organized by Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Udupi here at Santekatte on Friday August 27. He observed that religion should unite people and lead the society towards development.
If a religion is out to create disharmony it is no religion, he said. He added that Ranmadan month symbolizes through fasting, that evil thoughts and deeds should be kept at bay and human beings need to take up charity.
Vijay Kalyanpur, Okkoota general secretary, in his introductory address appreciated the efforts of the organization to hold Iftar party to unite people of various religions.
Mohammed Marakada, president of Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Udupi unit welcomed the gathering.
