Udupi, Aug 28: Ashok Kamath, head master of Volakadu government high school here, has won the special award meant for excellence in teaching, while Purandar Bhat, teacher of Balila Vidyabodhini high school in Sullia taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, has been chosen for the ‘best science teacher’ award, being given by Karnataka State Teachers Benefit Fund annually.
Purandar Narayan Bhat has been continuously engaged in making new inventions in science towards encouraging students to get engaged in research work in science. Ashok Kamath has been striving to transform his school into a model institution, by drawing help from donors.
Several teachers from other districts have also been chosen for these awards. These awards will be presented to the winners at an awards function being held at the National Institute of Engineering in Mysore on September 5.
