Mangalore, Aug 27: Ellipsis, a film club and AdReel, an ad club, were inaugurated at St Aloysius College here on Friday August 27 by Sudhir Ghate, chairman, Magnum Intergrafiks Private Limited.
“I am delighted to inaugurate the clubs. Any initiative that celebrates and recognizes creativity and art must always be encouraged and supported. I believe the clubs can be a forum for fostering creative thinking among the students and the general public,” said Ghate on the occasion.
The inauguration of the two clubs was unique as well as symbolic, wherein a mime show on the process of film making was put up by the students of mass communication. The chief guest was then asked to turn on a camera (symbolizing the art of films), projecting a promo of the film club Ellipses.
During the interaction with the students Ghate emphasized that advertising is an ancient profession and though the medium of advertising has changed over the years the industry will continue to exist. He told the students that collecting information from Google does not account to research. A sound research is the basis of any successful ad campaign, he added.
The inauguration was followed by the screening of a short movie, “Glass.”
Ronald D’Souza of Alliance Francaise, Fr Staney D’Souza, vice-principal, St Aloysius College, Dr Fr Richard Rego, HOD of mass communication were present.
