Shivamogga, Jun 12: “We expect the positivity rate of coronavirus to go down to at least 5%. That is why lockdown is extended in districts where the infection rate is still high. If it is inevitable, we will think of declaring one more financial package,” said chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa.
Speaking to the reporters at Shikaripura in the district, Yediyurappa further said, “In some districts of the state including Shivamogga and Shikaripura, Covid infection rate is high. I have instructed the concerned officials to take corrective measures to bring it down.
“I am confident that the positivity rate will reduce to 5% if people cooperate. Revenue of state exchequer is down since eight months due to less collection of tax. In the midst of this, all efforts are made so that there is no shortage of funds for developmental work. Appeal is made to the union government for more aid. Economic situation of the state will improve after four months.
“Already some category of people have received Covid compensation in two packages announced by the state government. If it is inevitable one more package will be declared.
“In the next two days the state is going to get a huge consignment of vaccines. Every district will get the required vaccines according to the population. The price of petroleum products has shot up in the international market and that is why the rate of fuel is increased. No one should politics at this stage and cooperate with the government.
“Karnataka state in-charge Arun Singh will arrive after June 17 or 18. He will be here for two days and visit one or two districts. There is no need to make any special intentions of his visit,” he said.
