I think, there is nothing wrong with the request that seers made. Govt can appoit a well qualified eligible kannadiga VC because, as I think, the said university is a state run university. One more thing... Here the seers have not requested to appoint a VC based on religion. Really, Yoga is a precious activity for healthy life devoloped by Indians and is closely related to Samskritham. There are many branches in Sanskrit like yoga. Foreigners also learn and practise yoga, but when coming to pronunciation, it is poor in foreigners. Only Indian people, especially Kannadigas easily and correctly pronounce Samskritham. So I thinh, there is no base in the arguments made by Piad Mangalore in his comment.

They do not speak about poverty & economy-Point. First of all swami why you all interfere with political social life??. be a dedicated swami you will get all privileges. Again note that Yoga and Sanskrit is more practiced in western countries since long. Even they can teach. India is of all citizens of India, cast and faith is personnel. Have this understanding and live happily and let live. Only body and soul belong to a person, nothing else.

Sanskrit is close to Devnagari and as such asking a Kannadiga to head this institution is counter productive. May qualified person be chosen.

Devanagari script is used to write Samskritham and some other languages also are written in same script. But, pronunciation must be correct. Nowadays, it is seen, many scholars with good performance history in Samskritham are very poor in pronunciation. Many pronounce श-ष-स, व-व, प्र-प्प, क-ग, त-द and many such pair of alphbets without any difference. But Kannadigas pronounce these correctly. So, I think there is a base in the request made by seers to appoint a Kannadiga VC.

Mr. SN Bhat, I respect your views as your community has been upholding this language in South India for centuries. But, to logically think that Sanskrit, a language of north India will be correctly pronounced by a Dravidian Kannada language expert. I fail to understand how the inventors of this language pronounced it wrong in the first place.

Jagga Kawdoor ,karkala,I agree that to appoint only DK .people to appoint to Sanskrit UNIV.But let this to make compulsory in Govt schools out.Children are already having a heavy load of lessons in schools. Now with compulsory in school ,where may be no proper teachers ,no books at right time will make only chaos.step by step. Not everyone likes this language and hard .Let them first finish and learn in this hard times what begonnen. One should also think if any prospects there with compuslory Sanskrit in school?
