Mangaluru, Jun 9: Taking a dig at BJP-led state government former minister, MLA UT Khader on Wednesday, June 9, stated that the state government has failed to provide compensation to the victims who lost their house due to coastal erosion.
Addressing a press meet at IB in Konaje, Khader said, "There is no meaning in discussing the problems of coastal areas by sitting in an air-conditioned room in Bengaluru. No meeting has been organized concerning the compensation to be provided to people who have lost their homes due to coastal erosion. The government will be held responsible if the houses are damaged and fishermen suffer due to coastal erosion that usually occurs in the monsoons."
"The government has still not provided compensation for the houses damaged due to the cyclone. Though a letter has been submitted to the port department for a permanent solution to coastal erosion, no measures have been taken," Khader alleged.
"Though cases of black fungus are reported in Wenlock hospital, measures have not been taken to provide vaccines. The black fungus will spread throughout the body. The government is not serious about this matter. The government has failed to trace how people are infected with black fungus. It is also not focusing to increase the number of ENT doctors. The state government should provide clarity," Khader said.
He also alleged that the state government has not allotted the 15th Finance Commission funds to gram panchayats. Due to this, the development of gram panchayats has been hindered.
