Mangalore, Aug 26: A release issued by Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) public relations officer, Ramachandra Bhandarkar, said that one of the members of the families affected by MSEZ will get an employment. If the family decides not to opt for the employment, a one-time compensation of Rs 3.5 lac will be paid, MSEZ said.
The government-approved rehabilitation package for MSEZ stipulates that a member of the affected families should be employed on the basis of priority and availability of vacancies, subject to the fact that the candidates fulfil the eligibility criteria relating to educational qualification. MSEZ also has been asked to try to provide employment to the concerned even outside its jurisdiction. In case the family does not opt to get employment for its member, a one-time compensation package of Rs 3.5 lac has to be paid by MSEZ, the government order says.
MSEZ has already been providing training to 411 members of the affected families at Karnatakaka Polytechnic in the city at a cost of seven crore rupees, towards making them employable. Out of them, 223 are in the sixth and final semester, needing two more months to complete their courses. 129 people will complete their courses in 2011 and 59 in 2012, the release said. The candidates will fail get employment if they do not complete the course they have been admitted to, it has been clarified.
