Kundapur, Jun 8: On Monday June 7, the police arrested two more accused relating to the murder of Uday Ganiga from Yadamoge on Saturday June 5.
The arrested persons have been identified as Balachandra Bhat, an influential BJP leader who has been accused of extending tacit support for the murder, and Rajesh Bhat.
Yadamoge gram panchayat president Pranesh Yadiyal, has been accused of killing Uday when he was standing on the road in front of his house at about 8 pm on June 5 at Hosabal, Yadamoge, by knocking him down with the car and then attacking him with a stick.
Police at the spot of the incident
It is said that bitterness between Ganiga and Yadiyal arose over the issue of digging of a borewell and the WhatsApp status Uday posted relating to lockdown rules enforcement. Differences gave rise to hatred in the mind of Yadiyal. Uday's wife, Jyoti Ganiga, had said in her complaint filed in Shankaranarayana police station that Pranesh had murdered her husband along with Rajesh and others. She also said that Balachandra had supported the murder.
There is suspicion that more people were present at the spot of murder. The police are putting together information and evidence to check this fact.
District superintendent of police N Vishnuvardhan, visited the spot and collected information. Kundapur deputy superintendent of police Srikanth, police circle inspector Gopikrishna who happens to be the investigating officer of the case, sub-inspector Sridhar Naik and others were present.
