Mangaluru/Udupi, June 4: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, June 4 reported 806 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths, while Udupi reported 561 fresh cases and three deaths.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 8,63,879 samples have been tested so far, out of which 7,85,122 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 78,757, out of which 7,906 are currently active.
As many as 858 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
The district recorded nine deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 937.
With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 71,72,917 as fine in 60,898 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,05,390 samples have been tested so far.
As many as 561 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 61,239 out of which 4,506 are currently active.
A total of 585 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Coronavirus has claimed 341 lives in the district so far, including three on Friday.
Till now, 2,63,845 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 85,796 have received the second dose.
