Mandya, May 30: Kumar Hegde, bodyguard of firebrand celebrity Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, was arrested from Heggadahalli in K R Pet taluk in Mandya district by the Mumbai police on charges of rape, as per reports.
Kumar had got acquainted with the aggrieved lady eight years back. It is said that he had proposed to marry her in June and she had given her nod. Later, it is alleged, that he forcibly exploited her sexually.

The lady said in her complaint filed in D N Nagar police station in Andheri suburb that Kumar had collected Rs 50,000 from her on April 27 by claiming that his mother had passed away. Once he reached his native place, he switched off the phone, she stated.
On the basis of the comlplaint made by the lady, who is a makeup artist by profession, the police had registered case against Hegde under Indian Penal Code sec tion 376 pertaianing to rape and 420 (cheating), a report by a news agency stated.
Based on the said complaint, the Mumbai police were scouting for Kumar Hegde. After they gathered information that he was in Heggadahalli, they arrived there and took him into custody. He was produced in the JMFC court at K R Pet before taking him to Mumbai.
