Mumbai: 'Shortage of mucormycosis injections worry for state' - Tope

Mumbai, May 29: As the state is witnessing rise in mucormycosis cases, the Union government should speed up disimbursement of amphotericin B injections at the earliest, state health minister Rajest Tope said on Friday May 28. Tope said that currently there are over 2,200 mucormycosis patients and Pune district has around 500.

The state government was in regular touch with the Centre and he had also requested the MPs to request early disbursement of these injections to the state, Tope said.

Meanwhile, the state is considering to empanel more private hospitals to ensure free treatment for people affected by mucormycosis. He added that the state has declared that treatment of mucormycosis would be free of cost.
