Bengaluru, May 25: The state government will now concentrate its efforts to check the spread of Covid second wave infections to rural areas by adopting a micro-management strategy, said home and law minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Tuesday, he said the responsibility of establishing and managing the micro-containment zones in rural areas will be entrusted to the taluk health officers, police and PDOs.
The micro containment zones will be established in the rural areas with a larger number of Covid positive cases, he said pointing out that without forming such micro containment zones in rural areas it will be difficult to control the spread of the pandemic.
Doctors have been instructed to visit the micro containment zones on a regular basis and conduct tests. The infected people will be supplied with Vitamin C, Zinc and other medical treatments. All such persons will be compulsorily subjected to RT-PCR testing, he added.
The minister said chief minister B S Yediyurappa will be holding a video conference with some of the select gram panchayat chiefs on Wednesday as part of the plans to review the situation.
Bommai said union chemicals and fertilisers minister DV Sadananda Gowda, who is also the minister for Pharmaceuticals, has promised to supply over 1,000 injections for the black fungus infection cases. Special wards for the treatment of black fungus cases in Bengaluru and Dharwad and other districts with a higher number of cases are being set up, he said.
In addition, separate wards and treatment facilities for children are also being created and district deputy commissioners have been suitably advised, he added.
