Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, May 25: The daughter was separated from her father because of a long-standing family feud. She was longing to meet her father for a long period. Kollur police and the district child protection unit came to her aid.

The girl's father and mother had separated due to family misunderstandings. Her mother lives with her two daughters at Nagara in Hosanagara taluk, Shivamogga district.

The girl, now 16, came to know from her grandmother that her father had met with an accident. She badly wanted to meet her injured father. She was going to Hemmady on Monday, May 24 along with people from her neighbourhood known to her when the police at the Nittoor-Kollur checkpost made enquiries and conveyed information to the district child protection unit.

The legal surveillance officer of the unit, Prabhakar Achar, visited the Kollur police station immediately and counselled the teenager. He noted that she was strongly nursing the desire to see her father whom she had not met for the last 13 years. Her father was then made to visit the police station where he had a conversation with his daughter. As the girl refused to go back to her mother, the president of the Child Welfare Committee, Ronald Furtado, issued an order as per which she was rehabilitated at Namma Bhoomi society at Kanyana.

The girl, who is in SSLC now, dreams of becoming a police officer. Kollur police sub-inspector, Nasir Hussain, and district child protection unit legal surveillance officer, Prabhakar Achar, have undertaken the responsibility of providing her with higher education.

After marriage most of the couples are in a hurry to prove their fertility before they understand each other. With one or two kids in the first two years, the sudden surge in responsibilities, there arise the differences leading to break ups and divorces, putting the lives of children in misery.

If the daughter hasn't seen her father in 13 years means he didn't put efforts to find his kids too then. Some people need to understand that children are of both parents 50/50, literally! Biologically!

Some good news hopefully. But if father was forced by police to go there must be a deeper reason not understandable to impressionable teenagers.

Ajay Rebello kallianpur,I think to avoid misunderstanding ,and since girl is a teenager, not seen father long ,police wanted to be sure ,that they recognize each other ,not later end in gutter.whatever their misunderstanding between parents ,children shouldnt been involved in .They should allow to meet father or mother so long no other problem is there.Mostly girls are more attached to fathers.
