Karnataka registers nearly 26,000 new Covid cases; 7,494 in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 23: Karnataka on Sunday May 23 registered 25,979 new coronavirus cases.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state stand at 4,72,986. Bengaluru Urban's single-day tally came down to 7,494 new cases, a huge decrease from over 20,000 cases that the cosmopolitan was reporting a few days ago.

As many as 626 deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the state on Sunday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 362 deaths and Ballari 30. With this, the toll so far has risen to 21,837.

The state recorded 35,573 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 19,26,615.

So far, Karnataka has seen 24,24,904 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 20.76%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 2.40%.

As many as 1,20,49,483 people have received vaccination so far.
