Udupi, May 21: In the race to control the second wave of coronavirus, the district administration has geared up to fight the rare disease Black Fungus (Mucormycosis).
Two days ago, seven patients from different districts were diagnosed with Black Fungus. Now, the district has reported two local cases of the disease as of Friday, May 21.
The confirmation of the above was given by deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha to Daijiworld. The new cases have taken the tally of patients with Black Fungus to nine.
One of patient is a 60-year-old lady from Santhekatte and another case is of Nandikoor, Kaup origin person aged 45 years. The lady is on ventilator support at present.
The two patients are being treated at a private hospital in Udupi. All the Black Fungus patients will be treated free of cost as per state government order.
