Udupi, May 20: The district in-charge secretary Dr MT Reju has suggested affixing a seal on the hand of people who are in home isolation for being Covid positive.

He was speaking after presiding over the Covid review meeting held at the auditorium of the deputy commissioner office here on Thursday. Dr MT Reju made the suggestion after the deputy commissioner informed him about complaints of Covid positive people found wandering in public places.

He also directed the issuance of Covid lab reports on time and collection of samples in villages as soon as possible.     

Dr Reju appreciated the bed facilities and the measures taken to ensure that oxygen is efficiently used in the district hospital. He called on healthcare workers and frontline workers to put in more efforts to contain the second wave of coronavirus.

Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh, district panchayat CEO, Dr Navin Bhat, additional deputy commissioner, Sadashiva Prabhu, ASP Kumar Chandra, district panchayat chief project officer, Srinivas Rao, DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda, district surgeon, Dr Madhusoon Nayak, district nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat and others were present.

    The idea by Dr. MT Reje to affix a seal on the hands of Covid patients in home isolation is good but it will not work. We have smarter people than you and me.

    Do some good work and take sensible decisions. COVID patient is not a criminal like you people who have the blood of the deceased by not providing proper care.

    Why not brand their forehead like Nazis did to Jews? Stop RTPCR pandemic and end all the pandemic scare by discontinuing tests. Let people take their own health care.
